NEw Experiences at McDonalds

I have a tendency to be shy and nervous.  I have a tendency to stick to what I know.  I like to take it safe.  However today I had an interesting experience when I walked into McDonald’s.  Let’s talk about it.

I leave near a McDonalds so I frequently go there to do work.  It’s a nice McDonalds.  It received a trendy McCafe revamp a while back.  It has a fireplace in the middle with some nice stonework.  I can’t complain it a nice McDonalds.

But I don’t come here for the scenery.  I don’t come here for the coffee (Although it’s my go-to coffee, can’t beat $1.49).  I come here because its safe.  It’s easy.  I’m familiar with it.  I know the workers.  I know I’ll have an outlet.  I’m pretty much guaranteed to get one of the seats I like.  Usually, there will be some seniors hanging out chatting sipping coffee but that’s it.

Today was the first time I had been to my McDonalds in a few weeks.  I walked in and I was overwhelmed with a new feeling.  It was a feeling that told me that I had outgrown my McDonalds.  It sounds like a funny thing to say but its true.  I looked around and things seemed dull.  It seemed stale.  I had this yearning for something new.

Now historically I’ve been intimidated by trendy coffee spots.  We have them.  People go there and sit with their laptops plugging away at whatever it is they’re working on.  These places are usually filled with young, sometimes attractive people.  These places have a trendy cool vibe.  Its intimidating to me so I’ve stuck to my very safe McDonalds.

I’m thinking it might be time to do some exploring to find a new spot.  I feel a little emotional as I sit here in my McDonalds typing away.  I’ve come here so often.  I’ve walked over so many times.  One day soon I will enter this McDonalds for the last time.

Thank you for being my spot these last few years McDonald’s.
